Blooms In The Fall . . .

Let it get cold and everything starts to bloom.  Our red hibiscus is blooming, my Swedish ivy is blooming.  My roses are blooming.  I'm thrilled that the Swedish ivy is blooming it's doing REALLY well.  Now to keep it that way over the winter.  Going to try my damnedest.  It's not cold, actually.  It's perfect.  I'm about to go out again with my book, notebook, readers.  I'd like to take the new boombox out with but that will be too hard I'm afraid.  The wind is music enough at the moment and it's just fabulous.  So onward toward winter.  Everything going great so far.  Spring is going to be FABULOUS!

Spring Revival

I was out checking the garden yesterday and some begonia, my hosta, my closet plant and my Nephthys is reviving.  The begonia not fast enough for me I'm about to buy some more the first of the month, I miss the lovely blooms.  Nothing from my prayer plant yet but maybe it'll surprise me too.  Hope so.  All of the cuttings Pat gave me perished so no more swedish ivy.  I'll have to find some elsewhere.  But find it I will. Of course all my pepper trees have perished but I'll get more, I'm doing a little more cooking lately.  April, apparently, is going to be cold the entire month.  Rained just a teeny bit last night, I'd already watered.  So on to it, can't wait to get my flower seed planted somewhere sometime.  We'll see.  Later!

Is Spring Finally Springing???

I was a little downhearted when I went to the garden today and saw that the wind had blown the cover off my plants last night.  But I think they will recover.  It's going to be warm until Tuesday then I'll cover them again but after that it's warm all the way with rain forecast.  Awesome.  I do hope for a little rain this spring, it'll keep summer from doing so much damage.  Guess what?  I'm putting down an in ground garden this year :)  I will be planting bellflower, nasturtiums (I think), lots of stuff also the lily of the valley and gladiola bulbs.  Will be colorful when they bloom hopefully this year :).  I need to get some border protectors, be it the little plastic fence or the cobblestone borders, something to help keep the dogs out of em.  I need to pick up some little plants the next few times I'm in the store that they have some.  I'd like to check out Lowe's when next in town.

Damned Winter . . .

I am mourning the loss of most of my garden.  The good news is Joni seems to be taking the winter in stride, she's got new leaves.  I'm amazed.  I just moved her where she can get more sun and I need to repot her if I can find a large enough pot though I want something more ornate for her.  She's going to be so pretty this spring!  Lucy and Mina are faring though leafless (Mina is but budding some).  Lucy's remaining leaves are yellow she just needs water and sun she's been on the porch the duration of the winter.  I am able to recoup some sprigs of Swedish Ivy and some baby spiders but it remains to be seen if any of the christmas cacti will recover.  I don't worry much about the Nephthys or the closet plant or prayer plant those will or should come back in the spring we'll see.   If not I'll buy more online.  All in all I think really all I lost is my new diffenbachia and the pepper plants.  More in the spring those are cheap at WalFart.
