As Winter Approaches . . .

I'm preparing the corner to receive spring plants.  I was just seeing how much work I'm going to have to put into clearing it out and it's not so bad.  We're going to get a machete when we go to WalMart tomorrow and that will help.  I've taken up a bunch of branches and put them to be the base of a fire to rid the corner of most debris, since it's burnable.  You know how much I love setting fires!  I have lots of pots, many have been smashed, but that's ok lots more to use when needed.  My shallow terracotta one is still good that is going to get my cactus seed started.  Can't wait till spring!  It's going to be  one hell of a winter in the meantime.  PITY ME!

I think in February they should have more miniature roses.  I hope so I want another white one and another yellow one.  My salmon one is still living she has another bloom today!  Woot!  One thing I have going for me next year is the little red wagon!  Makes moving things SO much easier!  Yay!!!!

I moved a corner plant stand onto the porch and put some of my loose pots on it and it looks fantastic!  The buds are falling off my white Christmas cactus that sucks.  I watered it but it had gotten some of the rain when it fell, it could be too cold for it.   I have many large pots I want to use for some of the larger plants I'll be getting or planting, many small pots for starter plants and I need to pick up a few more hanging baskets.  One thing I need to do is fashion a rope from tree to tree out there so I have a high something to hang baskets on.  The tree limbs are too high and not strong enough.  We'll see though, I was just talking to my bff about it I thought she had prayer plants I was hoping she could share but she doesn't.  She's going to do a big vegetable garden.  I plucked a tiny spider plant off a broken stem I hope it thrives.  It looks like it could be strong enough.

Christmas Cacti . . .

I bought the prettiest white christmas cactus, we still have a pink one and some pieces fell off it that I'm trying to keep alive.  I also have some hawarthia I need to repot better and get it going again it's doing better.  I plan on pretty pretty plants this spring, including a veggie garden.  We'll see how well I do I just hope these seeds propagate that I've had since LAST year.  I think they will.  Keeping them on the porch has been a bad idea.  Though they fared well because they are sun protected, they aren't DOG protected and several have been harmed, destroyed by the dogs (dammit!) so I'm moving them over by my sacred space, or somewhere I can tend them easily and see them whenever I want.

Spring Finally . . .

So I went out to clean the litter pans and lo and behold my crepe myrtle is leafing out I was so thrilled!  While the ground is soft I'm going to dig a hole and get it planted so it can do well every year and get bigger!  My bletilla orchid came up I was afraid it was done for.  Both of my new miniature roses died I knew they would it was too soon to buy them.  I THINK they would have made it if I could have kept the outside even if it froze, the others for a while did well over winter, they've died now due to neglect.  But I don't plan on being neglectful this year.  It's still too wet for me to get out and do much but I plan on getting out and doing something.  We'll see.

To Begin Again . . .

So, it's cold, it is it's about 45 right now, the wind is blowing about 20 mph in gusts but the sun is out and it is warm.  It's supposed to be warming tomorrow so I am putting the plants back out that are in here, repotting the two miniature roses in an effort to save them because they are not faring well at the moment.  I am going to be super sad if I lose the white one, the yellow one I fear is done for.

I found some Canterbury bell seed packs, and some bluebell seed packs and I am going to plant them and some jalapeno seed and some tomato and jalapeno seed pods I bought and get them started.  It probably isn't finished freezing but I think it will be alright.  I am going to plant every seed packet I have, and get some more bulbs and bareroots (lily of the valley and bleeding heart) to try ONE MORE TIME to get them to grow.  Pat has lily of the valley that comes up every spring I KNOW I can do this!  I don't know what the magic formula is but I'll figure it out, I plan on a gorgeous garden this year mostly coming up from seed.  We'll see!

Spring's Coming! 2015 Will Be GREAT!

So spring comes forth and I'm ready to plant.  Got great ideas and it's gonna be a GORGEOUS growing season I cannot wait!  Going to have veggies, and pretty pretty pretty plants and flowers.  I'm going to get some more hylocereus started, some stapelia, and some euphorbia millii and I'm so thrilled!
